Located at 230 S. 25th Street, the Smoke Pit BBQ can be a quick and reasonably priced place to grab lunch, or to hold a short business luncheon. The menu includes a choice of meat with two side dishes. The smoked brisket or smoked ham are my typical meat choices. Many people find the Smoke Pit's barbecue sauce flavor tangy rather than smokey, and I agree with that assessment. Others think the ribs at the Smoke Pit are top notch. Despite the mixed reviews, its still on the Omaha Driver's list of favorite Omaha destinations. Happy Motoring and enjoy the Pit stop!

Located at 1406 S. 13th Street, the Bohemian Cafe is an enduring tribute to the rich and diverse ethnic heritage of South Omaha. A family owned restaurant since 1924, the Bohemian Cafe serves authentic Czech meals, as well as American and European menu items. The roast duck and the liver dumplings are delicious. Old Market Passageway

Located on the northeast corner of 11th and Howard, is the Old Market Passageway. Like most of the Old Market business district, original buildings from the 1800's were preserved and renovated into a vibrant, thriving business community. The Passageway is an Omaha icon, and the most well-known spot in the Old Market. It hosts great businesses like V Mertz and Trini's Mexican Restaurants, as well as White Crane Art Gallery. Orpheum Theater - White Christmas

Located at 409 S. 16th Street, the Orpheum Theater will be hosting Irving Berlin's White Christmas, with performances November 1st through November 7th. White Christmas is a part of the Omaha Performing Arts "Broadway Series", and Omaha is the kick-off for the show's national tour. The musical includes memorable Irving Berlin hits such as “Sisters,” “Blue Skies,” and of course “White Christmas.” Tickets may be purchased online or by telephone. Have a chip in your auto windshield? Don't ignore it! Chips can be repaired simply and easily with resins and polymers that are available to your mechanic. N P Dodge Memorial Park

Dodge Park is a massive 445 acre recreation area located at 11001 John J. Pershing Boulevard in Northeast Omaha. Operated by the Omaha Parks and Recreation Department, admission to the park is free. The park includes a camping area, a marina with boat ramps giving easy access to the Missouri River, a bike path, and plenty of picnic space. The camping area includes 46 camper connection pads, restrooms, as well as tent camping sites. The park's pavilion is available for rental year round and is equipped with a full kitchen and picnic table seating inside for 250 - 300 people. With extensive use of stone and exposed wood in its internal construction, combined with the smell of wood smoked foods coming from its wood fired grill, Firebirds feels like a Colorado ski lodge in the Midwest. Every since Chu's Chop Suey House closed it doors, my family has searched Omaha for an oriental restaurant that serves great Mandarin Chinese food. Panda House restaurant, located at 14459 West Center Road, and downtown at 301 S. 16th, comes close. With great soups and appetizers, an assortment of fried rice, low mein and chow mein dishes - the Panda House has a large menu selection for carry out or dine in. Omaha Children's Museum

Located at 500 S. 20th Street, the Omaha Children's Museum is a great place to take young children up to the age of 10. The museum is designed to permit small children to exercise their imagination and to become excited about learning. Permanent exhibits include a creative arts center, an imagination playground, and a science and technology center/lab. The ball factory, the dance room, grocery store and traveling exhibits are our family's favorites. 2009 Dine Out Against Hunger

On Tuesday, October 13th, several Omaha restaurants will be participating in the "2009 Dine Out Against Hunger." Ten percent of their days proceeds will be donated to the Omaha Food Bank. The Food Bank works to alleviate hunger in the Omaha area. Dining out at one of the participating restaurants is an easy way for you to get involved in our community, while helping to feed our area's men, women and children who face hunger on a daily basis. The Food Bank will distribute between 5 and 7 million pounds of food this year alone. Direct contributions can also be made through the Omaha Food Bank website. Happy Motoring!

On Saturday October 24th a ghoulish Halloween event will take place in Omaha. It's the second annual "Zombie Walk." Show up dressed as a zombie or as a victim, between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. at The Pizza Shoppe, 6056 Maple Street in Benson. There is no admission and the event is fun for all ages. Located at 3001 S 32nd Ave., just 4 blocks west of the I-480 and Martha street exit, Lo Sole Mio is recognized as one of the best, authentic Italian restaurants in Omaha. You'll be delighted with generous portions and prompt service, in a great ambiance. Start with fresh breads with olive oil, roasted garlic, Parmesan cheese, tomato and basil; and finish with Lo Sole's famous Tiramisu and Cannolis. Everything on the menu is delicious. The air cleaner in your car or truck should be changed at least every 3,000 miles. Changing your air filter is easy. Thanks to the Omaha Parks and Recreation Department, Omaha has made available time and space at several Community Centers, for the Omaha Fencing Club to hold classes in this action-packed and fun sport (fencing). The menu has numerous seafood items, in keeping with the restaurant's overall nautical theme. Buying a new vehicle? Make sure the dealer doesn't sell you extras you do not need. Typically, rust proofing is not needed since manufacturers often offer a rust warranty. Also, extended warranties are frequently overpriced. You would be well-advised not to include these items. River City Roundup agriculture exhibits, amusements, and food vendors are located in and around the Qwest Center. The annual Heritage Parade will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, downtown. The parade route begins at 17th Street and Capital Avenue, travels East on Capital to 10th Street, and then North on 10th Street to Webster Street. Be a "judge" in the big State Championship Barbecue Contest, held in parking lot D. For $10 you can sample the pork loin entries throughout the day Saturday and vote for your favorite. Located at 12102 S. 180th Street, Vala's is a unique family entertainment destination. Located on a farm, Vala's has tractor and hay rack rides, pony rides, haunted houses, even evening bonfires. Vala's Fall season and pumpkin harvest begins this Saturday, September 26th and runs through November 1st. Have you replaced your fuel filter recently? It is one of those engine components that can protect your engine from thousands of dollars in damage if you change it regularly. Have you checked your engine coolant levels lately? A low coolant level can cause engine overheating and lead to serious engine damage.
